Belts are a great fashion accessory and this high-waisted bobble belt will help add some texture, color, and a custom touch to your outfit. A high-waist belt is flattering for a range of body shapes as they are designed to cinch at the narrowest part of the waist, creating or accentuating an hourglass silhouette. They are incredibly versatile and can be paired with various outfits, including dresses, skirts, trousers, and even oversized tops! For your next project, add a touch of sophistication and structure to a wide range of looks with this stylish bobble belt.

PATTERN NOTES
This pattern is written using US crochet terms, and sizing is listed in inches.
The pattern is one-sided, with a "right side" and a "wrong side". When working the part, bobbles are made when working across the wrong-side of the work. It helps to push the bobbles toward the right-side of the work so they pop!
Make sure that the right side of your belt buckle and the right side of your work are both facing the same direction.
The V's will work one direction half of the length of the belt, then switch direction for the second half, creating an X in the middle as shown in the photo. Below you'll take some measurements to determine sizing, and you'll take into consideration how many bobble V's your pattern will require. The design requires that you take the total number of bobble V's you calculated and divide that by 2. The pattern will walk you through the first direction of bobbles, then you will repeat the same number working mirrored V's in the second half.
The turning chain never counts as the first stitch. Always ch 1 then sc in the first st at the beginning of each row.
There are two versions below, one if you choose the 4-bobble V version in the sizing section, the second pattern is if you chose the 3-bobble V version. You'll determine which version to follow in the sizing section below!
There is a wide variety of belt buckles out there! You can see that I attach at the start of the belt and at the end. If your belt buckle doesn't have 2 sides like mine, and is instead adjustable, make the following adjustments to your pattern
Add 1-2 bobble V's to the second half of your belt, allowing you to keep the symmetrical look while wearing the belt, while allowing for adjustment at the buckle.
In the Finishing Touches section of the pattern, sc in every st along the edge of the belt, except the corner stitches at the tail. Here, add 3 sc in the corner stitches, continuing with one sc on the edges. Sl st into the buckle and trim out.
GAUGE
For gauge, swatch one V of bobble stitches in pattern. From the tip of bobble to bottom bobble should measure 2" long and 2.25" wide (see photo below with measuring tape)
Swatch: One V of Bobble Stitches in pattern sequence.
Note: turning chain does not count as stitch
Every row ends with 9 stitches
Use Stitch Key above for a reminder on how to do the BO (bobble) stitch
Ch 10
Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook and each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc into first st (chain does not count as a st here and throughout), BO into second st, sc into next 5 sts, BO into 8th st, sc into final st. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc 9, Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc 2, BO into third st, sc into next 3, BO into 7th st, sc 3. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc 3, BO into fourth st, sc 1, BO into 6th st, sc 3 to end. Turn.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc 9 across. Turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, sc 4, BO into fifth st, sc 4. Turn.
Row 9: Ch 1. Sc 9.
Sizing
To determine the length of your belt and how many bobble V's you'll crochet, follow these steps:
Measure your waist at the narrowest point of your torso
Subtract from that the width of your belt buckle
Divide this measurement by 2" ( which is the length of one bobble V in the pattern). This determines the total number of V's you'll crochet.
Example: My waist (at the narrowest point) measures 32". My belt buckle was 2" wide, so 32"-2"=30". 30/2=15 total Bobble V's to crochet.*
If your numbers don't divide into an even number, there are two options.
Option 1: Decide if you prefer rounding down for a tighter fit, or up for a little more ease. You will need to round to an even number of total bobbles.
*I decided I wanted a tighter fit knowing the yarn will stretch and
rounded down to 14 total bobbles.
Option 2: Make your V's 3 bobbles deep instead of four. These should measure
1.5" tall and 2.5" wide. See the pink swatch in the photos below.
For option 2:
Measure your waist at the narrowest point of your torso
Subtract from that the width of your belt buckle
Divide this measurement by 1.5" (the length of one 3-bobble V in the pattern). This determines how many V's you'll crochet total.
Since the length of the 3 bobble V is smaller, rounding up or down to the nearest even number of bobbles will have less of an impact on the overall length of the belt.
Pattern Directions for the 4-bobble V Version
Attach to one side of the belt buckle
Start with a slip knot and prepare to work onto the belt buckle's 2" post
Row 1: Sc 9 st onto belt buckle post. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2-3: Sc into first st (chain does not count as a st here and throughout) and across. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc into first st, BO into second st, sc into next 5 sts, BO into 8th st, sc into final st. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc 9, Turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc 2, BO into third st, sc into next 3, BO into 7th st, sc 3. Turn.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, sc 3, BO into fourth st, sc 1, BO into 6th st, sc 3 to end. Turn.
Row 9: Ch 1, sc 9 across. Turn.
Row 10: Ch 1, sc 4, BO into fifth st, sc 4. Turn.
Row 11: Ch 1. Sc 9.
Repeat rows 4-11 to continue the Bobble V's until you reach half of the desired length. At this point, we will reverse the order for a mirrored Bobble V shape, and the center of the belt will have a Bobble X.
Complete the center X
Row 1: Ch 1, sc 3, BO into fourth st, sc 1, BO into 6th st, sc 3 to end. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc into first st, BO into second st, sc into next 5 sts, BO into 8th st, sc into final st. Turn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc 9 across. Turn.
This completes the X and counts as the first of the V's on the second half. Now we continue the V's in reverse order.

Repeat Rows 1-8 until you have an equal number of V's on either side of the X.
Attach to second half of belt:
Row 1-2: Ch 1, sc 9 across. Turn.
Make sure that the right-side (view-side) of the buckle matches the bobble-side of your work
Row 3: attach to the other belt-buckle post with a single crochet.
Finishing touch:
